Punjab Kings won their 5th game of IPL 2022 as they beat table-toppers Gujarat Titans here on Tuesday. They hammered GT as they won with 4 overs to spare.

Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bat first. They did not get to a great start as Shubham Gill was run-out courtesy of a brilliant piece of fielding by Rishi Dhawan.

Kagiso Rabada then got rid of Wriddhiman Saha. Rishi Dhawan then came to the bowling crease and accounted for Hardik Pandya’s wicket.

GT never really got going in their innings as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sai Sudharsan was the main man for GT as he scored 65 off 50 and helped his side post 143 runs on the board.

Kagiso Rabada was the best bowler for PBKS as he got 4 wickets for 32 runs.

Punjab Kings had a different opening pair for the night as Jonny Bairstow combined Shikhar Dhawan at the top. But the move did not work out as Bairstow got out in the 3rd over itself. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Shikhar Dhawan then added 87 runs for the 2nd wicket. Dhawan completed his 50 as well. In the end, Liam Livingstone played scored 30 runs off 10 balls and finished the game with 4 overs to spare.

This win has taken PBKS to 10 points. They are now 5th on the points table. While despite the loss, GT are well ahead of other teams at the top of the table.

Updated Orange Cap:

Jos Buttler continues to lead the table, While Shikhar Dhawan has moved to the third on the list with his half-century against GT.

Updated Purple Cap:

Yuzvendra Chahal continues to lead the table. While 2020 purple cap winner, Kagiso Rabada has made his way to the third spot on the table with a 4-fer in the game.
