LSG vs KKR: Andre Russell's Wicket Was The Best Of The 3 - Avesh Khan On PotM Performance Against KKR
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Avesh Khan deservedly won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
After LSG batters did the hard work on a tough track and put up 176 on the board, it was up to the pacers to back them. Avesh led the way with an excellent 3-wicket haul, including the wicket of the big-hitting Andre Russell.
Terming it as the best of the lot, Avesh said it was important as Russell was going hard and putting the bowlers under pressure. The West Indian smashed 45 in just 19 balls and was looking dangerous before Avesh nipped the knock in the bud.
“The attempt was to get Dre Russ out, as he was going well. My aim was going with the hard lengths even if that goes for six. His wicket was the best of the three as he was on top,” Avesh said while receiving the Player of the Match award.
“My dad and the coaches have encouraged me to take wickets” – Avesh Khan
Avesh revealed that he has the backing of his dad and coaches to take wickets instead of only trying to restrict the batters from scoring runs. Having experienced pacers alongside him also helps to concentrate during the game.
“I look to take it one ball at a time. My dad and the coaches have encouraged me to take wickets and help the team win. The conversations with the other bowlers is to execute plans according to the demands of the situations, we figure out what the track is doing and communicate it to share knowledge,” Avesh further added.
LSG defeated KKR by 75 runs to go to the top of the IPL 2022 points table while KKR continues languishing at the eighth spot with just 4 wins in 11 matches.
