RCB vs RR: Watch - Mohammed Siraj Traps Devdutt Padikkal Plumb In Front
Devdutt Padikkal hasn’t been in the best of forms in IPL 2022 and his poor run continued against his old franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore as he got out to Mohammad Siraj in the 2nd over itself.
On the very first ball of the over he hit Siraj for a six straight down the ground, but Siraj made a great comeback as troubled Padikkal on the subsequent deliveries.
Change In Batting Position Also Not Helping Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Paddikal started the season for RR batting in the middle order. He did well as he scored a 40+ in his first innings but due to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s poor run at the top, Padikkal was moved to the top of the order but since he has moved to open the batting he has struggled against the swinging balls.
He did hit a 50 in the last game against Delhi Capitals but apart from that, he has largely struggled. He is getting out within 10 balls itself.
Even against RCB, despite the first over being bowled by Shahbaz Ahmed who could be considered a good matchup, Padikkal didn’t show any attacking intent as the first over went for just 5 runs.
He did hit a six against Siraj on the first ball but then as soon as Siraj found his line and length, Padikkal looked out of sorts.
On the delivery when he got out, he was trying to get across the crease but got stuck in the crease and couldn’t connect the ball as the ball hit his pads. He did review the decision instantly, but the ball was pitching in line and he was given out.
Rajasthan Royals had spent a fortune on Padikkal but Padikkal hasn’t shown the same form he had for RCB in the last two seasons. RR management would hope that Padikkal comes good at some stage in the tournament.
