Brabourne Has Not Been Nice To Us: Shreyas Iyer

KKR lost the game after coming close to the win. Rajasthan Royals had put a massive score on the board courtesy of Jos Buttler’s 2nd century of the season. KKR themselves got to a bad start but then Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer had a prolific 107 run partnership. Once Finch got out, Iyer took it upon himself to carry the innings forward. Nitish Rana played a good little knock but he got out in trying to hit a six against Yuzvendra Chahal.

Andre Russell was also dismissed for a duck by a brute of a delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin. But it was the 17th over from Chahal which changed the match. He picked up 4 wickets in the over, including a hat-trick. Umesh Yadav in the end tried his best to get KKR over the line but failed.

“I think from the start we got, we really were going well according to the run-rate. Finchy was good but once he was out, we slowed down a bit. We lacked a bit over there, but it’s a part of the game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t click. My plan was to bat through the end, the opposite batsman had to take it on from ball one. The matchup Rana had was with Chahal. He did not time that and it happens”, Iyer said on KKR’s batting performance in the match.

On Buttler’s innings he said, “He started a bit slow and after that, he just went off. The way he manoeuvres the ball, he is a classy batsman. Kudos to the way he batted. If we had got him out early, the scoreboard would’ve looked very different.”

On the loss, he said, “Unfortunately Brabourne hasn’t been great for us. Hopefully, we will come back hard in the coming games.”

KKR have now lost 4 games out of the 7 they have played and they would hope that they get back on track sooner rather than later.
