IPL 2021: 3 Players That Delhi Capitals (DC) Can Target In The Mid-Season Transfer

Delhi Capitals have had a good run of form so far in the tournament and their bench strength has been so good that they haven’t missed their senior player’s absence. Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the IPL 2021 with an injury and Rishabh Pant has taken over the responsibility really well with both hands.

R Ashwin has left the squad to take care of his family in the tough Covid times and they have managed to be a strong side despite missing the lead spinner.

The youngsters in the team like Avesh Khan and Lalit Yadav have stepped up to the occasion while Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have been batting brilliantly at the top of the order. Here are 3 players that Delhi Capitals can target in the mid-season transfer.

3 Players That Delhi Capitals (DC) Can Target:

Mandeep Singh:

Mandeep Singh hasn’t had any opportunity so far in this IPL for the Punjab Kings and he is one of the experienced hands that Delhi would need at three or in the middle order. He is one of the prolific run-scorers in the domestic circuit and has a fair bit of IPL experience for various franchises.

He can bat anywhere in the top order and hence, Delhi Capitals could play him at three or four depending on the situation as Rahane or Steve Smith are more of the players who can anchor the innings. Mandeep can play the big shots as well and he could gel into the side like Delhi easily.

He is not expected to get any chance in Punjab Kings playing XI who have preferred Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan in the middle order.

Ben Cutting:

Ben Cutting is one of the fearsome strikers of the cricket ball going around and he has been warming the bench for the Kolkata Knight Riders for a long time now. It will be difficult for him to break into the playing XI of the KKR side with their four overseas slots almost filled and they have got the first choice back up option in Shakib AL Hasan.

But Delhi Capitals doesn’t have a backup option for Marcus Stonis in the middle order who can give some overs too and hence Ben Cutting could do the finisher job for them along with providing the bowling option in the middle.

Ben Cutting has been part of the Sunrisers franchise when they won the IPL in 2016 and hence, he knows what needs to be done to win the title.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman:

The Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman played just one game in this IPL so far and hasn’t been used by the Sunrisers  Hyderabad with their team combination getting affected. Mujeeb is one of the best spinners going around in the world when it comes to T20 cricket and he can be very economical in the powerplay too.

Mujeeb’s IPL number is good and with Delhi relying on the Indian spin attack, they could rope in Mujeeb who could be very valuable. Their lead spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has left and despite Axar Patel doing good, Mujeeb could be used in flat tracks where the inexperienced spinners feel tough to play. Delhi Capitals do not have any overseas spinner in their squad.
