IPL 2021: England Stars Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes And Dawid Malan Pull Out Of UAE Leg - Reports
England national team’s players Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, and Dawid Malan have reportedly pulled out of the upcoming leg of the IPL 2021. The reasons for the withdrawal are yet to be confirmed.
The trio was part of the English set up for the 5-match Test series against India. The fifth and final Test in Manchester was canceled after a covid-19 outbreak following which, the players started moving out to UAE for the IPL 2021 season.
There were a few players who had already withdrawn their names citing bio-bubble fatigue and packed schedules. The latest to join, as reported by the Evening Standard UK, are Bairstow, Malan, and Woakes, who were an integral part of their teams in the IPL. Ben Stokes and teammate Jos Buttler had already pulled out of the tournament.
Sounds like Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan and Chris Woakes have withdrawn from the IPL (Buttler and Stokes already had). Still 10 England players going, some flying today.

While Jofra Archer is injured and is ruled out for the rest of the year, all-rounders Moeen Ali and Sam Curran might turn up for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). England white-ball skipper, Eoin Morgan, had made himself available for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) about a month ago.
David Warner likely to return to captaincy after Jonny Bairstow’s withdrawal
In the first phase of the IPL 2021, Australian opener David Warner was going through a rough patch. He was struggling on the slow tracks in Chennai and wasn’t his usual self in any of the matches. As a result, not only was he dropped from captaincy, he was also excluded from the playing XI.
Following Bairstow’s decision to pull out from the tournament, Warner will get a chance to prove himself at the top once again for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Warner is one of the top run-getters of the tournament, having amassed 5447 runs in 148 matches.
He has scored four hundreds including a best of 126 against KKR in April 2017. Warner’s average of 42.22 is only second-best behind KL Rahul’s but he has scored at a faster rate. SRH resumes their quest to win the league for the second time when they take on table-toppers Delhi Capitals on September 22.
