IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Teams Which Can Target Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane was one of the 16 players released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2023. The franchise traded in Shardul Thakur, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Lockie Ferguson and now has an available purse of 7.05 crores. However, the franchise has retained the core that performed well for them in IPL 2022. Rahane injured himself in the second half of the tournament last year after which he was ruled out of the tournament.

KKR now have a remaining purse of 7.05 crores and 14 players in their squad. All the franchises can retain a maximum of 15 players in their squads. All teams need to have at least 18 or a maximum of 25 players in their squads for IPL tournaments. KKR have three more overseas slots available.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 133 runs in seven games for KKR with a best of 44 against Mumbai Indians. He averaged 19.00 for the side and struck just over a hundred in the seven games that he played. Once Aaron Fich replaced Alex Hales last year, Finch was preferred over the Indian opener. KKR roped him in for 1 crore.

Rahane with his wealth of experience can be one of the options for the Titans. He also led franchises in the past and can draw experience from his leadership experience as well. He can be someone whom Hardik can trust to anchor the innings batting at number three.

Suryakumar Yadav will bat at three and someone like Rahane can bat at four. He can anywhere from one to four in the top order and thus gives the team flexibility as well. Rahane has previously played 10 games for Mumbai scoring 148 runs at an average of 18.50.
