The IPL 2023 or Indian Premier League season 16’s hype will begin on December 23 when the mini players’ auction for the tournament will take place in Kochi. However, now reports have suggested that the franchise officials are set to request a rescheduling of the auction due to the date being very close to Christmas.

November 15 was the last date for all the ten Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to finalize the list of players that they released and retained and submit it to the BCCI. A total of 163 players were retained by the teams and as many as 85 were released from their existing squads. The mini-auctions have always been beneficial for overseas players and the upcoming one would be no different.

Now as per reports, officials of all ten franchises are set to request to the BCCI to reschedule the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi as their foreign staff including coaches might not be able to make the December 23 date as it is very close to Christmas and they would be with their families enjoying the holidays.

This mini-auction will see the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green in the mix, and they are expected to rake up huge bids by franchises, owing to their all-around skills. Apart from this, Adil Rashid and Joe Root are also in the fray for a chance to play in the IPL 2023.

Even Joe Root, who has entered the IPL auction only once and went unsold, is expected to put his name in the IPL 2023 auction as he aims to make it into the England 2023 World Cup squad which will be played in India.
