Nellai Royal Kings are one of the eight teams participating in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). They are owned by Crown Forts. Nellai Royal Kings are yet to win the TNPL and are captained by Arun Karthik.
Ahead of the 2020 season, Kanchi Veerans franchise was sold to Crown Forts and was renamed as Nellai Royal Kings after shifting its base to Tirunelveli. The newly-named team made its TNPL debut in 2021.
Nellai Royal Kings - Season-wise performance:
Nellai Royal Kings' journey in TNPL began in 2021 season. They finished their maiden campaign in the tournament at the fifth spot in the points table with 3 wins from 7 games. The Royal Kings missed out on a playoffs spot only because of an inferior net run-rate.
Nellai Royal Kings qualified for the playoffs in TNPL 2022 but could not make it to the final. They were the most dominant side in the league stage. The Royal Kings finished at the top of the points table with an impressive 6 wins from 7 games.
However, they lost both of their games in the playoffs and could not progress ahead. They lost the first qualifier against Chepauk Super Gillies before suffering a loss against Lyca Kovai Kings in the second qualifier.
Nellai Royal Kings enjoyed an impressive campaign in the league stage once again in TNPL 2023. With 5 wins from 7 games, they finished at the third spot in the points table and qualified for the playoffs. The Royal Kings beat Madurai Panthers in the Eliminator before beating Dindigul Dragons in the second qualifier to storm into the final. However, they suffered a loss against Lyca Kovai Kings in the final.
Nellai Royal Kings could not qualify for the playoffs in TNPL 2024. They finished at the fifth spot in the points table with 3 wins from 7 games.
