IND vs NZ 2021: Yuzvendra Chahal Deserves To Play Matches But It Won't Be Right To Drop Axar Patel – Robin Uthappa

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Robin Uthappa believes that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal deserves to be a part of India’s playing XI in the ongoing three-match T20I series against New Zealand, but it won’t be the right decision to drop Axar Patel from the team to add the leg-spinner.
India successfully managed to win the first T20 Internationals against New Zealand; however, the victory was not very convincing. Spinner Axar Patel also went wicketless in his 4 overs quota and gave away 31 runs.

Meanwhile, speaking on ESPNcricinfo ahead of the second T20I game of the series, Robin said that Axar was very unfortunate to get removed from India’s 15-member ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad, and it’s good that he has been given a few chances in the series. He asserted:
“Yes Chahal deserves to play matches but it won’t be right to drop Axar after just one game. He actually was very unfortunate. He was in the World Cup squad, and then suddenly was dropped out to the reserves. So I feel it’s good that he has been given a few matches. Chahal will have enough opportunities in the coming future.”

I Feel That Ashwin Has Proved His Class In The Last Few Matches – Robin Uthappa

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who made a comeback in the Indian T20I team after a very long time, has delivered an exceptional performance in all the games he has played so far, and Uthappa feels that Ashwin has proved his class, especially in the middle overs.
Also, he opined that Ashwin will be India’s frontline spinner in the T20 World Cup 2022, which is just 11 months away.
When asked whether Ashwin has cemented his place in the T20I team, Uthappa replied: “Yes for sure. I feel that Ashwin has proved his class in the last few matches, especially in the middle overs. He actually, in the first T20I, bowled in the powerplay as well.
“So he has definitely cemented his place in the side. And will also be our leading frontline spinner for the T20 World Cup 2022.”

Meanwhile, the second T20I between India and New Zealand will begin tonight at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
