IND vs NZ: “Hardik Pandya Was Not Smart With His Rotation Of Bowlers” – Danish Kaneria Slams India Captain After 1st T20I Loss

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has lashed out at captain Hardik Pandya after India’s defeat against New Zealand in the T20I series opener at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday, January 27.

New Zealand National Cricket Team defeated India National Cricket Team by 21 runs in the first T20I match to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The second T20I will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, January 29.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria said that Pandya was not at all “smart with his rotation of bowlers” and he didn’t have good plans in place to deal with the situations. He also opined that pacer Shivam Mavi, who bowled his first over in the 14th over of the innings, should have been brought early and spin-bowling option Deepak Hooda should have been given an extra over.

“Hardik Pandya was not smart with his rotation of bowlers. He brought Shivam Mavi into the attack very late. He should have been brought in early. He could have also used Deepak Hooda a bit more, given the amount of turn that was on offer. This is where Hardik erred tactically. He didn’t seem to have any plans,” he said.

Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl well with the new ball – Danish Kaneria

The 42-year-old further said that Pandya was poor with the new ball and overall the Indian bowling unit leaked a lot of runs.

“The Indian bowlers leaked a lot of runs. Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl well with the new ball. He did not hit the right areas. New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Finn Allen showed great aggression, attacking the Indian bowlers right from the start,” he said.

Notably, skipper Pandya opened the attack for his side against the Kiwi opening duo – Finn Allen and Devon Conway – and conceded 12 runs in the over.
