Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has emerged as India’s main bowler in white-ball cricket in the absence of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised Mohammed Siraj for his rise in white-ball cricket and said the pacer has worked hard in the nets to improve his bowling.
The right-arm fast bowler has been lethal with the new ball in the ODIs, providing early breakthroughs in the powerplay. He has taken at least one wicket in the powerplay in his last 10 innings. He has evolved from a red-ball bowler to a complete ODI bowler with his bowling variations. His performances were rewarded as he was named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2022.

He Lost It A Little But While Trying To Work On Other Aspects – Paras Mhambrey
In a pre-match interview ahead of India’s third ODI against New Zealand, Paras Mhambrey revealed his conversation over white-ball bowling with Mohammed Siraj during the England tour in July 2022. Mhambrey lauded Siraj for developing his outswinger and said it is paying dividends now.
“We had a conversation with Siraj in England, during the Test series and the white-ball series that we had. We sat down and discussed what are the other kind of things that we need to add, specifically to be successful with the white ball as well. One of the points which came up was the outswinger, which he had earlier, but he lost it a little but while trying to work on other aspects, working on the cross seam and other kind of stuff.”
“We discussed that we need to challenge the outer edge of the right-handed batter to pick up more wickets. I’m very happy to see that he has transformed and worked on it, the credit should be given to him. He has worked religiously in the nets, working on the outswinger and which is paying dividends right now.”
The 28-year-old has been rested for the third and final ODI of the three-match series at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, on Tuesday, January 24. He performed well in the first two matches, taking 5 wickets with an outstanding average of 11.20 at an economy rate of 3.50.
