Indian Cricket Team had won the toss & elected to bowl first in the 2nd ODI at Raipur against New Zealand. Both the teams didn’t make any changes to their lineup. The Men in Blue continued with the spin pair of Kuldeep Yadav and the all-rounder Washington Sundar.

New Zealand Cricket Team was in disarray as the visitors were reduced to 56-6 inside 19 overs. The batters looked clueless against the duo of Mohammed Shami & Mohammed Siraj. The batters weren’t keen to smash boundaries as they managed to score only 15 runs in the power-play overs.

Kuldeep Yadav Almost Takes a Blinder

At the end of 23 overs, New Zealand’s score was 67-6 where Glenn Phillips’ score was 22 runs in 33 balls whereas Mitchell Santner was on 6 runs in 14 balls. Kuldeep Yadav was bowling the 24th over, on the 3rd ball of the over, Santner tried to hit the ball over Kuldeep Yadav’s head where Kuldeep Yadav misjudged it, and in doing that he crashed into the stumps and the ball fell off.

Critical Phase for New Zealand

New Zealand are on the cusp of getting bundled out. All eyes would be on Glenn Phillips as he will have to make sure that he converts his start into a big one. New Zealand would be hoping that the duo Phillips & Santner stay till the end of 40 overs which would give the team a chance of posting a target of around 200 runs.

The skipper Rohit Sharma hasn’t introduced Washington Sundar in the innings which is quite surprising. It looks like Sundar would be given 4-6 overs as seamers are getting a lot of assistance. The Men in Blue needs to wrap up the innings quickly as we have seen many times that low-scoring matches can turn out to be risky.
