Indian Cricket Team would be roaring to take on the mighty New Zealand Cricket Team on Wednesday (18th January) for the 1st ODI. Skipper Rohit Sharma will have a strenuous task on his hands because New Zealand is a team who isn’t dependent on a single individual.

New Zealand is coming back off a hard-fought ODI series triumph against Pakistan where it was a collective effort from the team. Last time in 2017, the Black Caps weren’t able to clinch the series despite being taken the lead of 1-0 in the 3 Match ODI Series.

Rohit Sharma on Dew Factor

Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel had mentioned that the game should begin at 11:30 IST to negate dew. Rohit Sharma was seen in press conference and was asked about the dew. “It is a good idea. It is a World Cup right. You don’t want to compromise too much on the toss factor. You want to completely take that away. I like the idea of an early start but don’t know if it is possible. The broadcasters will decide (laughs).” said Rohit Sharma.

“Ideally you don’t want to see teams getting advantage of dew. You want to see cricket being played without one having an advantage of batting under lights with dew around.” he added.

Enthralling Contest on Cards

India’s batting line up would be tested even if New Zealand don’t have the services of Southee & Boult. According to reports it is assumed that the management is going to try Ishan Kishan in the middle order as Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the ODI leg due to a back injury.

New Zealand would be banking on the experienced Tom Latham to guide the team in the middle overs. A lot will depend on how the Black Caps play Kuldeep Yadav as the left arm chinaman is in the form of his life with his foxy variations.
