Rana was born on December 22, 2001, in Delhi. The right-arm pacer first played for North Zone and later made it to the Delhi Under-19 team. Later in 2022, he became a member of the Delhi Team in the domestic circuit.

With his outstanding show after his entry into domestic cricket, Rana gained a lot of popularity with his pace attack and tall physique. In IPL 2022, KKR picked him into their squad as a replacement.

In IPL 2024, he was banned by BCCI for one match for his send-off to Mayank Agarwal. He sent a flying kiss to the Punjab Kings batter after taking his wicket.
