West Indies T20I skipper Kieron Pollard was heartbroken after his team’s loss in the second T20I in Kolkata. The visitors fell short by 8 runs and in the process lost the T20I series as well after being whitewashed in the ODI series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel were able to weather the storm in the final two overs with the Windies needing 29 to win from 12 balls.

Despite the defeat, Kieron Pollard was eager to look at the positives from the game. He said that the way Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell batted will give them tremendous confidence. Pollard said that both the players took the game deep and how they could have got the winning runs, in the end, will always be a point of debate.

“He (Powell) was phenomenal today. His partnership with Pooran almost got us over the line. We did well to take it as deep as we can. We can look at different ways as to how we could have gotten those 8 runs. At the end of it, we can look at so many ways” said Pollard.

The West Indies skipper also lauded Roston Chase for the way he bowled in the game. He had back to back good games for the side and contributed immensely to the team in the first two games. Chase had figures of 25/3 bowling in the middle overs taking the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

“He (Chase) has bowled well. He came in and showed us something. Again he delivered for us. We can’t just call batters out. Was a very good game. We sort of rectified our mistakes from the previous games” Pollard added saying.

The final T20I will be played in Kolkata on Sunday (February 20). With India winning the series, a few changes in the playing XI might be expected in the final game.
