Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Gautam Gambhir was highly impressed with the batting performances of India’s top-3 – Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli – in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 game against Pakistan National Cricket Team.

Round 2 of the Asia Cup 2022 battle between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team was played on Sunday, September 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Indian openers KL Rahul (28) and Rohit Sharma (28) came out all guns blazing and forged an outstanding fifty-plus partnership. Virat Kohli played a fantastic 60-run knock while Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in decent contributions to help India post 181/7 on the board.

Chasing the target, Mohammad Rizwan scored 71 runs off 51 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes, and Mohammad Nawaz scored 42 runs off 20 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali chipped in crucial contributions to help Pakistan win the match against India by 5 wickets.

Speaking on Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’, Gambhir said that he loved the approach of Indian batters in the match against Pakistan. He also lauded Kohli and was hoping that the modern-day batting great continues his brilliant form with the bat.

“Very good, in fact Virat Kohli looked very very good, I loved the approach of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul followed by Suryakumar Yadav, Hooda; all those guys played well but Kohli was good, so you got to give it to him, coming back after the way he batted in the first and second game just showed that probably he got that confidence back especially today; looked really good and I hope he continues this form,” he said.

Former India National Cricket Team skipper Kohli, who has found his mojo back after a prolonged lean patch, is currently the highest run-getter in the Asia Cup 2022 with 154 runs under his belt at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 126.22.
