India's Asia Cup 2018 Squad: What Are They Upto Now?

Asia Cup 2022 is set to commence soon and cricket fans are eagerly excited for the premier Asian tournament. Six teams will be part of the tournament namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. One more team will enter the tournament after the qualifier round.
The tournament begins on August 27 (Saturday) with the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. India will play their opening game of the Asia Cup on August 28 against Pakistan. India is the defending champions of the tournament.

India won the Asia Cup title in the previous edition in 2018. In the tournament, India defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets to grab their 7th title. Many players executed their best efforts to clinch the title for India. Here we take a glance at the current status of all the players part of India’s Asia Cup 2018 squad.
India’s Asia Cup 2018 Squad: What Are They Upto Now?
Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was the skipper of the Indian team during Asia Cup 2018 tournament. He led the team to the title under his leadership. He scored 317 runs in 5 games during the tournament. The right-handed batsman is the skipper of the team in all three formats currently. He is also the opener for the team. Sharma will lead India in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 tournament.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan was another player who was part of the team during the Asia Cup 2018. The left-handed batsman was the star performer for the team. He scored 342 runs in 5 games, the most than any other player. He also won the player of the series award.
Currently, Dhawan plays for India in only ODIs and is absent from the Test or T20I side. However, he is a crucial member of the ODI team and also leads the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Dhawan is set to lead India in a forthcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe.
KL Rahul
KL Rahul is another player who was part of the Indian squad in the tournament. The right-handed batsman could play only 1 match in the tournament in which he scored a good knock of 60 runs. Currently, he is the vice-captain of the Indian team in T20Is and Tests. He is also the vice-captain for the team in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022.
Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu is another player who was part of the India squad in the Asia Cup 2018. The right-handed batsman was the third highest run-getter for the team in the tournament. He slammed 175 runs in 6 games at an average of 43.75. He also slammed 2 fifties in the tournament.
Currently, Rayudu is not part of the national team. However, he plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He also plays for the Andhra team in the domestic circuit.

Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey was another player who was part of Indian squad in Asia Cup 2018. Pandey only played 1 game in the series in which he scored 8 runs. The right-handed batsman has now vanished from the national side. Now, he plays for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL. He also plays for his domestic team Karnataka.
Kedar Jadhav
Jadhav also played a crucial knock of unbeaten 23 runs in the final match against Bangladesh, which helped the team chase the 223-run target in a nail-biting clash. Kedar Jadhav went unsold in the IPL 2022 auction. He plays for the Maharastra team at the domestic level.
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya was also part of Asia Cup 2018. However, in his first match itself, he sustained a lower back injury due to which he had to leave the field midway. Pandya was ruled out of the tournament and Deepak Chahar was announced as his replacement.
He did not bat in that match and bowled 4.5 overs, in which he ended wicketless. Currently, Pandya is a crucial member of the India team and one of the regular members in ODIs and T20I. He will be seen in the upcoming Asia Cup tournament.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is another player who was part of India squad in Asia Cup 2022. The all-rounder played 4 games for India and scored 48 runs at an average of 24.0. He also picked 7 wickets during the tournament and gave a glimpse of his outstanding all-round performance. Currently, Jadeja is a regular member of the team in all three formats. He is also part of the squad in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.
Axar Patel
Axar Patel is another player who was part of India squad in the 2018 Asia Cup. However, he did not play any game in the tournament. Currently, Axar Patel is often seen in the ODI and T20I squads of India. He also made his Test debut last year in the home series against England. He made a comeback to the ODI team in the recent ODI series against West Indies. He is a standby player for the team in Asia Cup 2022.
MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni was also part of India in the Asia Cup 2018. He was the wicketkeeper for the team in the tournament. Dhoni played all 6 games for the team and scored 77 runs in 4 innings at an average of 19.25.
In the final match against Bangladesh, the right-handed batsman played a crucial knock of 36 runs. MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 and now only plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.
Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik is another player who was part of India during the tournament. The right-handed batsman scored 146 runs in 5 innings at an average of 48.66. In the final, Karthik played a crucial knock of 37 runs.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was out of the team since 2019. However, after an impressive performance in IPL 2022, he has made a comeback to the national team in T20Is. Karthik is part of the India squad for Asia Cup 2022.
Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav was one of the spinners for India during the tournament. The left-arm spinner played 6 matches in the tournament and picked 10 wickets at an average of 23.70 and an economy of 4.08. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament and the top wicket-taker for India.
Yadav only played a handful of games in the last few years. However, he was part of the recent T20I series against West Indies, where he played 1 match. He is not a regular spinner in the national team but often plays some games. He is part of India’s tour of Zimbabwe. In IPL 2022, Kuldeep Yadav played for Delhi Capitals.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is another bowler who was part of India in the Asia Cup 2018. The right-arm spinner picked 6 wickets in 5 games during the tournament at an average of 32.83. Currently, Chahal is the top choice of the spinner for India in white-ball cricket.
The right-arm spinner gave a good performance in the recent series against West Indies, England, Ireland, and South Africa. He is also part of the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was another player who was part of the team in the 2018 edition. The right-arm spinner picked 6 wickets in 5 games at an average of 29.33. He held an economy of 4.19. Kumar is a regular pacer for the team in ODIs and T20I. He won the player of the series in the T20I series against England and South Africa. Kumar is part of the team in Asia Cup 2022 as well.
Jasprit Bumrah

Khaleel Ahmed

Deepak Chahar

Siddarth Kaul
Siddharth Kaul was another bowler who was part of Indian team during the tournament. He played only 1 game during the tournament in which he could not grab a wicket. The right-arm pacer is not part of the national team currently. He was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 and plays for the Punjab team in the domestic circuit.
