Since his arrival in international cricket, the speed demon Umran Malik has caused a stir. Undoubtedly, Umran’s pace is what makes him most noticeable, but if one were to go past that, there are other parts of his bowling that also clearly make him a menace to the opposition.

Umran Malik has the ability to break up partnerships and, despite the possibility of leaking runs (something every bowler faces), he frequently succeeds in taking wickets. Beyond his ability to bowl quickly, Umran Malik, a 25-year-old tearaway quick, has taken 15 wickets in the previous 8 games, including several key wickets, indicating that he is not an easy player to play. Umran has caused more bowled dismissals than any other manner, which obviously indicates that he is not.

Umran Malik Will Be Always In The Mix: Ravi Shastri

In the Indian squad, there is intense rivalry for every position, but especially in the fast-bowling division. The lineup is strong with a World Cup on the horizon. Jasprit Bumrah will return, and his longtime sidekick Mohammed Shami will be there with the new ball. With their strong track records, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will also be knocking on the door, while Hardik Pandya’s comeback to full-tilt bowling provides India another option.

The Indian squad has intense competition for every position, but the fast-bowling position is particularly competitive. The lineup seems strong given that a World Cup is soon to arrive. With the new ball in tow, Jasprit Bumrah’s dependable sidekick Mohammed Shami will also be making a comeback.

Along with Hardik Pandya’s comeback to full-tilt bowling, India now has another option with to Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh, who have both put up outstanding performances recently.

“I think he plays an opportunity more in 50-over cricket than in T20s. And with the amount of cricket that is being played, he will always be in the mix because there could be injuries cropping up and any time. There is a deadline to announce your side for the World Cup. The fitness of players will be the key. That’s why this IPL will be crucial to see how they (bowlers) take the load,” Shastri noted while providing commentary.

In the third One-Day International between India and New Zealand, Umran Malik had figures of 2/9, including a 150 kph rocket to eliminate Michael Bracewell.

After the four-test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Umran, who was a net bowler for the Indian squad during the T20 World Cup last year, is set to play in the Australia One-Day Internationals before returning to his responsibilities for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League in 2023.

The IPL is where Umran Malik’s big test will start because he is anticipated to participate in at least all 14 games. How well his body holds up after the IPL will have a significant impact on his World Cup prospects.

When describing the effects of a returning Bumrah, Shastri made the equation sound more difficult. The senior pacer would obviously be Rohit Sharma’s first pick once he returns. If India’s record at home wasn’t already daunting for the visiting teams, add the middle overs from Hardik and other intriguing possibilities, and they seem to be a formidable side to beat.

“You would want Bumrah back, really because he is magical. He is a star. Him back in the side fully-fit will really lift this Indian team. And Hardik is such a key component. Him bowling for India makes this team a different side. India have got a great record at home.

The boys are fit – Bumrah – it can make a big difference. You’ve got variety in Arshdeep as well, Kuldeep and Chahal have bowled well. Washington Sundar is threatening all the time so it’s a good bunch,” added Shastri.
