Australia’s star batter Usman Khawaja & dashing all-rounder Cameron Green continued to frustrate the bowlers. The duo made sure that the hosts didn’t pick a wicket in the morning session. Usman Khawaja‘s defense was commendable where the bowlers looked clueless. Usman Khawaja redefined how Test cricket is played where he toiled the bowlers & then capitalized on loose deliveries.

The Aussies lost 3 wickets in the afternoon session where the centurion Cameron Green was dismissed. Ravichandran Ashwin took all the 3 wickets. At the end of the session, Australia’s score was 409-7 where Usman Khawaja’s score was 180 runs in 421 balls whereas Nathan Lyon was on 6 runs in 36 balls.

Axar Patel Traps Usman Khawaja

Axar Patel was bowling the 147th over and on the very first ball of the evening session, Axar Patel bowled a short ball where Usman Khawaja tried to put the ball towards the leg side and completely missed it. Umpire initially had given not out and in Rohit Sharma’s absence, Cheteshwar Pujara after having a discussion with Virat & team members, reviewed the decision and the decision was overturned. Usman Khawaja was dismissed on 180 runs in 422 balls where he struck 21 fours and missed a well-deserving double century. At that time, Australia’s score was 409-8.

Great Chance for India

The Men in Blue would sense that they can restrict Aussies below 450 which would give them some sort of chance in the match. It won’t be a bad idea to bring back pacers from both sides where they can rattle the opposition quickly. Axar Patel got a wicket after 47.4 overs which is the longest for him in his career.

Aussies need to play an attacking brand of cricket then they can have a go at the opposition in the evening session. It won’t be a surprise if skipper Steve Smith declares when the Aussie go past 450 where now Indian players would be tired after standing in the field for almost 2 days.
