Australian opener David Warner is a shadow of his past shelf when he used to be aggressive and ready to pick a fight on the field with the opposition. This new version of the left-handed opener, post the one-year ban for the ball-tampering scandal, smiled at young Naseem Shah who tried to sledge him in the ongoing first Test in Rawalpindi.

Openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner added 156 runs for the first wicket as Australia began their effort to overhaul Pakistan’s first innings score of 476/4d. David Warner was the first causality of the Australian innings, as he fell for 68 runs in 114 balls with 12 fours to his name, to Sajid Khan, who clean bowled the left-hander.

Australian batters had a clear advantage over the Pakistani willow men, as they scored at over 4 runs per over when compared to Pakistanis, who batted with a run rate of 2.93 in their 162-over innings.

David Warner Laughs Off Naseem Shah’s Effort To Sledge Him

David Warner enjoys batting against Pakistan as he had an unbeaten triple century in Tests against them and has a Test average in excess of 100 against Pakistan. Warner, who had been actively interacting with the spectators whilst fielding at the boundary on the first two days, continued to be a source of amazement for fans with the bat in hand.

The 35-year old player continued his interaction on the pitch. While Warner shared a few light moments with fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, the duo appreciated one another’s skills with the bat and ball respectively. However, things weren’t just limited to being light-hearted on the part of Naseem Shah.

Shah, who beat Warner, especially with the short ball on a few occasions, didn’t refrain himself from having a go at the left-handed batter. While the Warner of the old would have returned the favour with a verbal barrage of his own, this new form of the opener, just laughed and smiled at the teenage pacer’s effort to have a verbal duel with the veteran.
