India capped off a forgetful year in 2022 in terms of their T20I success. Two global T20 events were held this year with India failed to win both of them. They lost in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup to bow out of the tournament.

In the T20 World cup, which they entered as favorites despite their Asia Cup loss, they lost in the semifinal against England. It was a 10-wicket loss that came as a big blow to the side with a reputed bowling attack.

There was too much of chopping and changing in the white-ball squads which did not allow the management to find a settled combination. The absence of Ravindra Jadeja throughout the year disrupted the balance of the side.

The likes of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant were rested on occasions as well which meant that the team did not have their replacements or when they played they did not do well. In this article, we take look at the three worst players in T20I cricket for India.

Pant had polar opposite numbers in Tests and T20Is in 2022. He was India’s highest scorer in the red-ball format. However, in T20Is, he was one of India’s lowest scorers. The southpaw played 25 matches this year and batted 21 times scoring just one fifty-plus score. He was dismissed cheaply on many occasions and his style of play was determined by the match situation.

Rahul had a tough time across formats for India. He looked woefully out of form and struggled almost throughout the year, He did not stand up for India in the big matches in the T20 World Cup and was dismissed cheaply way too often. Given his recent string of low scores in the format, Rahul was discarded from the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Dinesh Karthik (287 Runs In 28 T20Is, Avg-20.50, SR-141.38)

Karthik made a comeback to the Indian T20I squad in 2022 after his performances in IPL 2022. He was seen as India’s designated finisher in the T20 World Cup 202 but failed to live up to that reputation. Even after getting an extended run in the format, the veteran Indian keeper-batsman failed to score consistently.
