Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has noted that Justin Langer will win the Ashes for Australia again and has reckoned Langer will retire after the victory. Australia managed to lift its first T20 World cup, and it certainly is a big boost to their future which looked bleak at the start of the year.

Justin Langer has been involved in a lot of criticism for the series against India at home and was backstabbed by his own team. Australia came into the T20 World cup on the back of two consecutive series losses against West Indies and Bangladesh and looked in all sorts of trouble. However, they managed to break all the odds and picked up their maiden title.

Michael Clarke Feels Australia Will Take A New Coach To Pakistan

Michael Clarke has predicted an Australia win in the Ashes under Justin Langer and noted that Langer will resign after the achievement. He explained the way Langer would be thinking at the moment and has reckoned that the Ashes will be his last series as head coach of the Australian side.

“I reckon Australia is going to win The Ashes and JL is going to resign,.JL is going to say you know what, I have achieved what I come in to achieve and I’ve copped so much criticism and had so much stick put on me.

“He’s going to say I’ve done my time, come to do a job and get Australia back to No. 1 in the world and I have done that and I’m out of here. I don’t even reckon he will go to that (tour of Pakistan). I reckon his last Test will be the last Test match of The Ashes series. Australia will win and they will take a new coach to Pakistan,” Michael Clarke told Sky Sports radio.

Michael Clarke Explains The Example Of Ricky Ponting

Michael Clarke compared Ricky Ponting to Langer reaching a state at the end of his career where he had to retire with all the criticism going around him despite him doing well. He credited Langer for taking the team forward in a tough time after the sandpaper incident.

“I hope I’m wrong – I think Langer is the right guy to be coaching Australia right now. I think he has done an absolutely brilliant job.”

“I think with all the criticism, it’s a little bit like Ricky Ponting at the end of his career, where Punter got to a stage where all the criticism finally caught up with him and he said my time is up,” he added.
