Ashes 2023: Ageas Bowl To Host Men's Ashes For First Time In 2027

England Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the venues for home matches including Ashes of England’s men’s & women’s cricket team from 2025-31. ECB has pointed out that there has been a pretty good response for women’s multi-format Ashes matches as well.
In the 2027 calendar year, England Men will play Tests against Australia at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge, and The Ageas Bowl (first match). In 2031, the five Test matches would be held at Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Emirates Old Trafford, Headingley, and Trent Bridge.

Ageas Bowl Southampton has hosted only a handful of Test matches as the first one was way back but never hosted an Ashes Test match. The venue was used in the Covid-affected summer of 2020 as 3 Test matches were played between West Indies & Pakistan and the pitch got also used as a white-ball series between Ireland & Australia.

Hampshire Chairman Rod was having an interaction with the media and was quite excited to host their first-ever Ashes match at the Rose Bowl, Southampton and termed it as a dream come true for the county.
“The Ashes fixture in 2027 will be a historic moment for Hampshire Cricket, the Ageas Bowl and for cricket in general as England and Australia engage in a Test Match for the first time at our bespoke venue, It represents the realization of a long-held ambition; a dream come true,” Bransgrove said.

“For all our dedicated staff, both past and present, the allocation of this match, the women’s Ashes Test in 2031, and the broader international and Test match programme over this seven-year period, represents full recognition of their amazing commitment and dedication over the past two decades,” he added.

ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould was quite excited to announce the long-term allocations for women’s as well as men’s international matches. Richard Gould pointed out that there has been a huge growth in attendance for women’s matches.
