The New Zealand vs India game was hosted by Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (2nd March). In what was the last league game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Rohit Sharma-led side won the match by 44 runs as they ended the league stage undefeated.
Asked to bat, India were off to a worst possible start with the bat. Shubman Gill (2), Rohit Sharma (15), and Virat Kohli (11) were back in the hut without making a big impact as the Men in Blue were left reeling at 30 for three inside the first seven overs.

With the team under pressure, Shreyas Iyer (79) and Axar Patel (42) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble. The duo soaked in all the pressure and slowly put pressure back on the opposition with their 98-run stand for the fourth wicket. After the left-hander was back in the hut, KL Rahul (23) supported Iyer as the duo added 44 runs for the fifth wicket.
But both the batters were back in the hut inside three overs. With Men in Blue under pressure, Hardik Pandya (45) played a crucial hand down the order that powered them to a total of 249 for nine. For New Zealand, Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged five wickets.

New Zealand, in the chase, lost Rachin Ravindra early. But Will Young (22) and Kane Williamson (81) posed a threat to the opposition with their 36-run partnership. However, the introduction of the spin completely changed the course of the game. Indian spin quartet of Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy troubled the Kiwi batters and kept taking wickets at regular intervals.
Daryll Mitchell (17), Tom Latham (14) and Glenn Phillips (12) had started but couldn't carry on. Williamson was the only player for New Zealand who looked settled but after his wicket, India took command. Varun Chakravarthy took a fifer as Men in Blue bundled out New Zealand at 205 to win the match by 44 runs.
