Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not a part of the T20I squad that has been announced for the five-match series against West Indies. Hardik Pandya will lead a young group of players as the senior players are rested as per reports.
Kohli and Rohit have not played any T20I cricket for India since the T20 World Cup last year. The duo did not play T20Is against Sri Lanka and New Zealand earlier this year. They are a part of the Test side and will be sitting out in the T20I series with young players being given a chance.

AB De Villiers spoke about the senior duo being rested for the T20I series against West Indies. He said this is perhaps the new-look Indian T20I squad without the two of them.
“No Virat Kohli, no Rohit Sharma. I think this is the new look Indian T20 squad maybe for the really big series against who knows who? Or World Cup” said De Villiers.

He further said that both these players will be back again later in the T20I squad but for now, it is good that they are getting some rest ahead of the World Cup.

“We’ll see those names again, but I do like the Indian squad being a bit proactive and giving these youngsters a turn to show what their mettle is all about. Ultimately, Virat [Kohli] and Rohit [Sharma] also get some rest for that [ODI] World Cup coming up” said ABD.
Kohli and Rohit had polar opposites seasons in IPL 2023. The RCB star scored 639 runs in 14 games, including two centuries. While the MI skipper scored just 332 runs in 16 games, including two half-centuries.
The duo has polar opposite T20 World Cups as well. Virat Kohli ended as the top run-getter in the tournament with 296 runs in six games at a strike rate of 136.41. Rohit, on the other hand, scored just 116 runs in six games at a strike rate of 106.42 in the T20 World Cup.
