India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan reportedly failed to clear the Yo-Yo fitness test ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

The left-handed batter is expected to be left out of the BCCI central contract list, while Shreyas Iyer, who was excluded from the 2023–24 contracts, is now likely to be included in the new list.

The BCCI is expected to announce the annual central contracts for the 2024–25 season soon. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will continue in the top A+ category.

Ishan Kishan Failed Yo-Yo Test Ahead of IPL 2025

According to RevSportz, one of India's wicketkeeper-batters failed the mandatory Yo-Yo fitness test ahead of IPL 2025. Ishan Kishan's failure to clear the test may impact his chances of securing a spot in the upcoming BCCI central contracts list.

Shreyas Iyer and Kishan were left out of the BCCI's central contract list last season for skipping domestic commitments. Iyer made a comeback to India's ODI side with impressive performances in domestic cricket. Kishan has been out of the national team since November 2023 and is yet to reclaim his spot.

Central Contracts to Be Announced in the Coming Days

In a video shared by RevSportz on YouTube, a journalist said that the BCCI will announce the new list of central contracts in the coming days. He mentioned that the contracts are determined based on a player's performance in the previous season.

"The list of Central Contracts will come within the next couple of days. And all the Central Contracts… One of the rules of the Central Contract is that the matches of the last year or the last season before the IPL. The players who played the most in that cycle, these new contracts are given on the basis of that," a journalist said.

Ishan Kishan Is the Only Player to Fail the Yo-Yo Test

The journalist added that many players were called to Bangalore ahead of the IPL. Those who were injured, including Bumrah, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and others, were cleared for injuries before taking the Yo-Yo test.

The remaining players had been tested earlier. However, the only player who failed the test from this group was Ishan Kishan. The Yo-Yo test is a key fitness measure to determine eligibility for future selection in the Indian team.

"Many players were called to Bangalore before the IPL in the name of the Center of Excellence in NCA. Those who were injured, like Bumrah, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and some others, were given injury clearance and then tested for the Yo-Yo test. The rest of the players were tested earlier," the journalist added.

"Among them, names like Ishan Kishan and others were included. They all fall under this category, including players like Rishabh Pant. All of them underwent the Yo-Yo test before the IPL. The only player who failed the Yo-Yo test from this list is Ishan Kishan. Kishan hasn't played in the past year, and maybe he wouldn't have made it to the Central Contracts even if he had passed. But the Yo-Yo test is a fitness parameter that determines whether you are eligible to play for the Indian team in the future."
