New Zealand take on West Indies in the second ODI on August 19 in Barbados. After winning the T20I series, the Kiwis lost the first ODI against the Windies by five wickets. This puts them in a must-win situation heading into the second ODI. The Kiwis are the top-ranked ODI side at the moment while West Indies are placed ninth.
The Kiwi batters failed to convert their starts into something substantial in the first ODI. This is what skipper Kane Williamson spoke about after the first ODI defeat. He also praised the opposition in the process.

“I thought they put on a complete performance. I thought at the halfway stage that it could have been competitive. West Indies batted well and we couldn’t extract enough either. Guys were trying hard (with the ball) but it didn’t quite go our way today. Was nice for the guys to get some overs in the belt. Hopefully, we can execute better in the next game” said Williamson.
Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at New Zealand’s predicted playing XI in the second ODI against West Indies. They will need to bring some tactical changes given that few of their batters performed below par in the first ODI.

Bracewell and Neesham are almost similar kind of players and can perform the same rule for the side. One of them can slot in at seven.

Tim Southee

Southee took two wickets in the first ODI and scored 12 runs with the bat. He will be one of the three seamers in the second ODI.
