In what comes as heartening news for Team India fans, seam-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has confirmed that he will be bowling in the five-match T20I series against England.
Hardik made the revelation during an interview with the host broadcaster ahead of the first T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The news of Hardik Pandya being fit to resume bowling is a massive boost for Team India, who struggled with the lack of fifth bowling action in Australia.
Pandya had returned to cometitive cricket last year during the 13th season of the IPL following a long layoff due to surgery that he underwent after prolonged periods of struggle with his lower back.
However, Hardik played as a specialist batsman for the Mumbai Indians, something he continued to do during the ODI and T20I series in Australia, barring the second ODI where he was forced to bowl by Virat Kohli due to a lack of options.
”It’s been almost one and half months since I have been preparing in this format – it’s going to be important with the World T20 coming up. You will see me bowling in this series,” said Hardik Pandya
Pandya’s return to bowling means Virat Kohli will have six bowling options at his disposal in the first T20I with the likes of Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur serving as five specialist bowlers.
