Abhimanyu Easwaran Tests Positive For COVID-19 Ahead Of Bengal T20 Challenge

Bengal Ranji team skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran has become one of the latest victims of COVID-19 from the cricketing fraternity. On Wednesday, Abhimanyu Easwaran tested positive for COVID-19 that has become a worldwide pandemic at present. The same has rendered him doubtful for the Bengal T20 Challenge, commencing on the 24th of November. He will serve in quarantine for two weeks.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is primarily a first-class cricketer, remained in track to represent East Bengal in the six-team tournament. Nevertheless, the mandatory two-week quarantine makes the 25-year old doubtful for the competition unless his team reaches the final. The Bengal T20 Challenge is the inaugural edition of the same, set to be hosted by the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in a bio-bubble environment.

The right-handed batsman has featured in 64 first-class matches, scoring 4401 runs at 43.57 alongside 13 centuries and 18 fifties. Easwaran’s List A career entails taking part in 57 games, averaging a healthy 49.18 and accumulating 2656 runs alongside six centuries and 17 fifties. His T20 record is promising too in which he averages 33.64 in 19 fixtures while maintaining a strike rate of 131.19, accounting for a hundred.

Abhimanyu Easwaran Covid-19 positive but asymptomatic:

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint-Secretary Debabrata Das told that Easwaran tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a mandatory test; however, is asymptomatic. The youngster has been moved into isolation and receiving treatment from the medical panel of CAB.

“He underwent a mandatory COVID-19 test and was found positive. He is, however, asymptotic. He is now quarantined and under the treatment of medical panel of CAB,” Das stated as quoted by Times Now.
