After grabbing a whitewash against world T20I champions England in a T20I series, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has said that his team aims to become the best fielding side in Asia. Bangladesh executed a fabulous effort in fielding to outplay England in the recent three-match T20I series.

The cricket fraternity was surprised to witness a powerful team like England failing to win even one T20I game against Bangladesh. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side gave a glimpse of their might on home soil by beating the world champions 3-0. Their incredible fielding was one of the aspects that helped them to overpower England.

While speaking to ICC, Bangladesh T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan said that Bangladesh wants to become the best fielding side in Asia. He also said he believes that they are not far behind in this motive.

“Everyone noticed our fielding in these three matches. We out-fielded England, who are themselves a good fielding side. It is a big tick mark. Our biggest improvement is in our fielding, when I consider every aspect. We should always field well, but we have targeted to become the best fielding side in Asia. After this performance, I don’t think we are too far behind,” Shakib Al Hasan said.

Shakib Al Shakib also spoke about the victory against England in the 3rd and final T20I, asserting that they batted well in powerplay and middle-overs.

“We didn’t know how much runs were enough on this pitch. So we were very open-minded. We first thought 140 was a good score. Then we got to a stage when we thought 170-180 would be our total. We didn’t get many runs in the last five overs, but we batted well in the powerplay and middle overs”, Hasan further said.

In the recently concluded England tour of Bangladesh 2023, Bangladesh lost the ODI series to England 2-1. However, they made a stunning comeback in the T20I series by winning all three games. Bangladesh demolished England by 6 wickets in the 1st T20I. In the 2nd T20I, the home team won by 4 wickets. Later, Bangladesh also won the 3rd T20I by 16 runs to grab a whitewash in the series.
