Yet again Chennai Super Kings came up with a surprise pick. In the before last season, they roped in Lungi Ngidi, who delivered the goods and now, they are smart enough in purchasing a player like Josh Hazlewood for his base price of INR 2 Crores. Earlier in the auction, they picked Piyush Chawla before losing a bidding war for Nathan Coulter-Nile.

While Chawla became the most expensive Indian buy at Rs 6.75 crore, Hazlewood was lapped up for his base price of Rs 2 crore. This will be the first season for Josh Hazlewood in the Indian Premier League. Despite possessing incredible talent, he never made into the Indian Premier League for obvious reasons.

His unrelenting accuracy has choked a lot of batsmen, and he has also tried to add up a few variations up his sleeve to suit the format. Although the pace isn’t exactly his strength, he worked on his speeds to be the vital fast bowler for Australia. Now, it will be interesting to see how he copes up with the pressure of IPL.

The addition of Josh Hazlewood will be a great thing for Chennai, as they can use him in the away matches. As they always fell short of a fast bowler in the away games, the inclusion of Josh Hazlewood would make a great impact for the team. With Dwayne Bravo and Lungi Ngidi being injury-prone players, Hazlewood will be a good cover-up for them.

So far, Chennai Super Kings roped in England all-rounder Sam Curran, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood and veteran spinner Piyush Chawla at the auction to add more depth to their already strong squad.

Chennai Super Kings Squad:

MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, KM Asif, Deepak Chahar, Jagadeesan Narayan, Karn Sharma, Kedar Jadhav, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Santner, Monu Singh, M Vijay, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood.
