Australian Cricket Team had topsy-turvy first innings where they got bundled out for 269 runs in 49 overs against Rohit Sharma-led in the third ODI. Not a single Australian batter smashed a half-century which is quite rare in modern cricket.

It was a collective effort from Aussie batters where they would sense that they are 20 runs short. Skipper Rohit Sharma was spot-on with his field placings. Rohit Sharma rotated his bowlers smartly & his decision to make Kuldeep Yadav bowl 10 overs did wonders as he took 3 wickets & gave away 56 runs in his spell.

Australia’s decision to make David Warner bat in the middle order didn’t work well as he scored 23 runs in 31 balls. It looked as if Aussie batters were in a hurry to smash boundaries where a lot of batters played casual shots. Aussies should not change their batting combination given the fact that ODI WC 2023 is in less than 8 months away.

Sean Abbott takes the key wicket of Rohit Sharma, leaves India batter dejected

Indian Cricket Team got off to a flyer where they scored 65 runs in the 9 overs. Sean Abbott was bowling the 10th over and on the very first delivery, Abbott bowled a short ball on the off-side where Rohit tried to put the ball over square leg but Mitchell Starc took a running catch. Rohit Sharma was dismissed on 30 runs in 17 balls where he struck 2 fours & 2 sixes.

The Indian skipper was extremely disappointed after getting out while playing his favourite shot. At that time, India’s score was 65-1 in 9.1 overs where Shubman Gill was on 33 runs in 39 balls.

Uphill Task for Australia

Skipper Steve Smith would be well aware of the fact that they need to keep on picking wickets as India have got a deep batting lineup. Smith would be worried as Mitchell Starc hasn’t provided the early-break throughs & has also been expensive where he has given 32 runs in his 4-over spell.

All eyes would be on Virat Kohli as the batter has got a terrific track record against Australia while chasing. The Men in Blue should use Suryakumar Yadav at the No.7 position & promote Ravindra Jadeja as the left-hand right-hand combination frustrates the bowlers. The hosts need to take the game deep as we have seen that scoring 80-odd runs in the last 10 overs is not a tough task.
