The IPL 2021 season is all set to resume from September 19 in the UAE and the final will be played on October 15. The remaining 31 matches will be played across the three venues in the Emirates and the Emirates Cricket Board are also in talks with the government regarding allowing fans back into the stadiums. The BCCI has thus managed a 25-day window to host the remaining 31 games including the playoff and the final.

Speaking to ANI, a BCCI official in the know of developments of the recent meetings between the BCCI and the ECB said the discussions went well and the Indian board is confident that the remaining games will be held successfully in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, we take a look at the players with the most appearances for their respective IPL franchises.

Team Wise Most Appearances By A Player In IPL History

Chennai Super Kings- MS Dhoni: 181 Matches

MS Dhoni has been leading the franchise ever since 2008. He is also the second-highest run-scorer for the franchise after Suresh Raina. He has won three IPL titles with the side and when the franchise was suspended for two years Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants and played 30 matches. Overall, he has played 211 matches in his career.

Delhi Capitals- Amit Mishra: 103 Matches

Veteran spinner Amit Mishra is the most capped player for Delhi Capitals. He has played for the franchise after skipping a few years in between. He started with Delhi back in 2008. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad for two seasons (2013,14) before making a comeback to Delhi in 2015.

He has picked 106 wickets for the franchise as well. Overall Mishra has 166 scalps and is the second-most wicket-taker in the league.

Kolkata Knight Riders- Sunil Narine: 124 Matches

Sunil Narine joined KKR in 2012 and since then has been a constant with the side. He has played 124 matches for the side and has picked up 130 wickets. Narine has been part of two title-winning sides with KKR. He is expected to be one of the five players the side might retain ahead of IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians- Kieron Pollard: 171 Matches

Pollard has been Mumbai Indians’ most capped player in the IPL. He joined the side in 2010 and has been with the side for over a decade now. He is the most capped player among the overseas players in the league. He has also scored the most runs for the side after skipper Rohit Sharma. Pollard has been a part of all five titles with the franchise, which is a record of its own.

Punjab Kings- Piyush Chawla: 87 Matches

Interestingly, Piyush Chawla is the most capped player for Punjab Kings having last played for them way back in 2013. He joined KKR in 2014 and was with the side till 2019 before CSK roped him in ahead of IPL 2020. He has played 70 games for KKR and just seven for CSK. He picked 84 wickets for Punjab, 66 for KKR, and just 6 for CSK. Overall he has picked up 156 wickets in the competition.

Rajasthan Royals- Ajinkya Rahane: 100

Rahane is the most capped player for the Royals. He has played exactly 100 matches for the side while he was with the franchise. While his stay with the side has scored 2810 runs with two tons to his name. He also led the side in 2018 and 2019.

Royal Challengers Bangalore- Virat Kohli: 199

Kohli is the only player in the history of the IPL to play for just one franchise. He joined the side way back in 2008 and has been leading the team since 2013. The RCB skipper is on 199 games and on short of touching the magical 200-mark. He will become the first player to play 200 games for one franchise when he gets to the landmark when the season resumes in the UAE.

Sunrisers Hyderabad- Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 95 Matches

Bhuvi culminates the list of cricketers to have played most matches for a particular franchise. He has played 95 matches for the 2016 champions and has picked 115 wickets. He won the Purple cap back to back in 2016 and 2017 picking 43 wickets in the two seasons together. He missed a few matches in the first half of the season due to injury. He will be back when the season resumes.
