Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is one of the biggest marquee events of the year. It is the ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup. The marquee event was originally scheduled to be played in Bangladesh.

However, the ICC decided to shift the venue just days before the start of the tournament owing to the political unrest in Bangladesh. The tournament was relocated to the United Arab Emirates although the dates were not changed.

Even though the Women's T20 World Cup was shifted to another country, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held the hosting rights. As per the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 schedule, the tournament is scheduled to be played from October 3 to 20. 

A total of ten teams are participating in the Women's World Cup 2024. The ten teams are - Australia, England, Bangladesh, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan, Scotland and Sri Lanka. Australia are the defending champions.

Talking about the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 format, the ten teams are divided into two groups of five teams each. Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in Group A while Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa and West Indies are in Group B.

Each team will play against the other four teams in the group once. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals. As far as the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 prize money is concerned, the ICC has allocated a pool of US$7,958,080.
