Mohammed Siraj picked up 4/66 in England’s first innings as the hosts were bowled out for 284. India gained a lead of 132 runs heading into their second innings after scoring 416 in their first. By the end of day 3, India reached 125/3 with a lead of 257 at Edgbaston.

Mohammed Siraj bowled with pace and took four wickets including the wicket of Joe Root. Root’s wicket was probably the best in the game so far as he was beaten for pace. The Indian pacer also acknowledged the fact that the Indian pacers have more pace than the Kiwi pacers had which allowed them to bowl better at the England batters.

“When we saw the New Zealand series, we realised that our every bowler is 140-plus and they (New Zealand bowlers) didn’t have that. We had that ability and also, we also played against England last year. So that was our plus point, as we were aware of their weak points and that is why we got the success” said Siraj.

Siraj further said that this will be another memorable series win if the Indian team manages to win the test match. He was a part of the series in Australia which India won and has played an important role in this series as well.

“We dominated for the first three days. The partnership of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja was brilliant and placed us in a strong position in this test match. It was a memorable series in Australia (2020-21). This will also be memorable (if we win) Siraj said in a press conference after the third day’s play.

Siraj now has 18 wickets in the series. He took 14 in 2021 and four in this Test match so far. Jasprit Bumrah became the bowler with most Test wickets against England in a series taking his tally to 21 after his three wickets in the first innings.

India will resume day 4 on 123. They lead by 257 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara 50 * and Rishabh Pant 30* unbeaten at the crease. Both of them added 50 runs for the fourth wicket before stumps on day 3.
