IND vs SA: I Don't Look At Myself From The Lens That The Outside World Looks At Me – Virat Kohli

India red-ball captain Virat Kohli addressed the media on the eve of the 3rd Test against South Africa and said that he doesn’t look at himself from the “from the lens that the outside world looks” at him.
Virat Kohli has confirmed that he will be available for the series decider against South Africa which will begin from Tuesday at the Newlands, Cape Town. Notably, Kohli was ruled out of the second Test due to an upper back spasm.

On Monday, Kohli talked about his batting and said that he is not going through a lean patch for the first time in his career. He added that he has been involved in some very important moments as a batter in 2021.
“It is not the first time. Let’s not get away from reality, it has happened a few times (lean patch),” Kohli said on Monday.
“I don’t look at myself from the lens that the outside world looks at me. The standards I have been compared with have been set by myself. More than anyone else I take pride in wanting to do the best for the team. In sports sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to go but I realise that I have been involved in very important moments in the last year or so as a batter.”

The Indian red-ball captain Virat Kohli further said that he doesn’t need to prove himself to anyone and added that he is in a position where the outside world will always judge him.
“Eventually, those moments have been crucial. Sometimes your focal point changes, if you keep looking at yourself in terms of numbers you’ll never be happy,” Kohli said.
“I take a lot of pride and motivation to be in those moments and have nothing to worry about. I truly believe I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. When you are in the position you are going to be judged by the outside world,” he added.
Virat Kohli was set to play his 100th Test match in Cape Town however after getting ruled out of the second Test he missed that opportunity and now he will have to wait for the home series against Sri Lanka to play the 100th Test match.
