The India National Cricket Team represents India in men's international cricket. The Indian cricket team is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is one of the most successful teams in the game. The India Cricket Team's governing body is the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the richest cricket body in the world.

India National Cricket Team: History

The British introduced the cricket game in India in the 18th century, and the first cricket club in the country was established in 1792.
The India National Cricket Team is achieved Test cricket status in 1932 and played the first Test against England in 1932 in London. While India had to wait until 1952 for their first Test victory, the India Team today is one of the strongest teams in the world.
The India cricket team won its first away Test series outside the subcontinent against New Zealand in 1967–68.

India National Cricket Team: ICC World Cup record:

The Indian cricket team has been playing the ICC World Cup since its first edition in 1975 and has played in all editions. The Men in Blue have won two World Cups so far in addition to finishing runners-up on two occasions. India won their first World Cup in 1983 before becoming the first-ever team to win the title on home soil in 2011.

The India cricket team won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and are yet to repeat that feat. In 2014, they made it to the final but lost to Sri Lanka. In 2016 and 2022, their journey came to an end at the semifinal stage.

India have played in all the editions of the ICC Champions Trophy so far. In 2000, they lost the final before being crowned champions in 2002. In 2013, they won the tournament once again before losing the final against Pakistan in 2017.
