Mumbai Indians bought 21 players during IPL 2022 auction. Ishan Kishan was their highest pick at Rs. 15.25 crore. He was also the costliest pick of the auction. Murugan Ashwin, Jofra Archer, and Tim David were some of the other key players that the team picked in their squad.
MI had an available salary cap of Rs. 48 crores in IPL 2022 auction. Earlier, the franchise used Rs. 42 crores to retain 4 players in their squad. The five-time IPL champions retained Rohit Sharma for Rs. 16 crores, Jasprit Bumrah for Rs. 12 crores, Suryakumar Yadav for Rs. 8 crores, and Kieron Pollard for Rs. 6 crores.

Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in the course of Indian Premier League so far. The team has won the titles 5 times in IPL 2013, IPL 2015, IPL 2017, IPL 2019, and IPL 2020. They finished as runners-up in the 2010 season. Moreover, the team has also qualified for playoffs 9 times out of 14.
IPL 2021 was not a good season for the franchise. The defending champions could not even qualify for playoffs. Out of 14 matches, the team won 7 games and lost 7 and finished on the 5th spot in the points table. They lost the playoffs’ spot to Kolkata Knight Riders on net run rate.
