The first day of the IPL 2022 mega auction came to an end with plenty of expected buys and surprising moments as well. Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player of the auction going at INR 15.25 crores to Mumbai Indians (MI).

Deepak Chahar was the next big buy as he was bought back by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 14 crores. Sunrisers Hyderabad did most of the shopping as they bought 10 players out of which only one was overseas, while MI saved their purse for last-minute buys on Day 2.

Shreyas Iyer went to Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 12.25 cr while all-rounder Shardul Thakur was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 10.75 cr. Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history, going for INR 10 cr to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

A total of 74 players including 20 overseas stars were sold who went under the hammer on Day 1 of the IPL 2022 Auction.
