Royal Challengers Bangalore head into the IPL 2022 auction with 57 crores in the bank. The 2016 IPL finalists retained Virat Kohli (INR 15 crore), Glenn Maxwell (INR 11 crore), Mohammed Siraj (INR 7 crore) in the retention window. They are on the lookout for a captain in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have bought the best of T20 cricketers in the past. Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers have been a part of the franchise and have played a key role in their success. The retirement of AB De Villiers has posed problems for the franchise in terms of finding a potential skipper. Virat Kohli had stepped down as the skipper of the franchise after IPL 2021 and promised to continue playing as a player.

Meanwhile, in this article, we will take a look at the probable players, the franchise might look to buy in the upcoming mega auction.

Both Dhawan and Finch are seasoned T20 cricketers. Dhawan’s recent form might make all the franchises go for him at the mega auction. RCB can buy Finch and make him the captain of the side. In the presence of AB De Villiers and Glenn Maxwell, Finch did not get many chances previously. Now with De Villiers gone, Finch can get a longer rope if he leads the franchise.

David Warner can be a massive buy for the franchise if they can rope him in. He will be opening the batting alongside Virat Kohli and the two can decimate any bowling attack from the opposition teams. Warner also gives them a leadership option having won an IPL title with SRH in 2016.

Middle-Order- Eoin Morgan, Dawid Malan, Ishan Kishan, Steve Smith, Suresh Raina

These are the five best options that the franchise might look to target. Kishan and Raina are good Indian options in the middle order, Morgan provides a captaincy option and Steve Smith is another option that the franchise might target. Smith and Kohli who are the two modern greats can play in the same team if the franchisee buys the former Australian skipper.

Pacers-Prasidh Krishna, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan, T Natarajan

Prasidh and Natarajan are good Indian options to have in a team. Among the overseas options, the franchise might look to rope in Chris Jordan and Mark Wood. The England duo is bowlers of different types of bowlers. Wood has a raw pace and can hurry the batsmen. Jordan, on the other hand, is a good bowler at the death.

Spinners-Wanindu Hasaranga, Washington Sundar, Nathan Lyon

RCB needs a big name to fill in for Yuzvendra Chahal. Interestingly, Nathan Lyon has signed up for the mega auctions and the RECB can look to get him in the auction. Washington Sundar is another Indian spinner in the mix. Wanindu Hasaranga played for the franchise in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. The franchise can look to get him in at the auction as well.
