Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered their second win on the trot in the IPL 2022 season by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 23 runs in their day game at the DY Patil Stadium on Saturday.

After being put in to bat first, Rajasthan was led by a fantastic knock from Jos Buttler, who brought up his second IPL career century in 65 balls. He scored five massive sixes and eleven fours in his knock.

Buttler was well-aided by cameos from Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer, the latter being responsible for a late burst in the death overs. Although Rajasthan slowed down towards the end, they managed to put up 193 on the board.

In response, MI was jolted early when Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna. It was left to Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan and the youngsters began rebuilding the innings at a quick rate.

Both reached their respective fifties but perished as the asking rate began to climb. It was left to Kieron Pollard in the end but the burly West Indian all-rounder couldn’t do it this time around as MI fell short by 23 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was the best of the lot as he picked up 2/26 in four overs and was extremely unlucky as Karun Nair ended up dropping what would have been Chahal’s first hattrick.
