Yuzvendra Chahal is back to his best: Sanjay Manjrekar
Chahal bowled a phenomenal spell of 3/11 from his four overs as Mumbai Indians were bowled out for 111 in the second innings at the Dubai International Stadium.
Manjrekar said that Chahal has regained his old form and is delivering up to his best spell in the second leg of IPL 2021.
“I think he (Chahal) is back to his best and this is what Chahal does. He bowls with a lot of heart, and he is one of those guys who will get stirred by a challenge, and not find shelter and not get bogged down by it,” Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo.
Rahul Chahar was head and shoulders above Yuzvendra Chahal in Sri Lanka tour: Sanjay Manjrekar
Chahal was ignored by the Indian selectors in the T20 World Cup squad as they preferred Mumbai Indians leg-spinner Rahul Chahar ahead of India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is.
Manjrekar cited that during the Sri Lanka tour, Chahar, who claimed four wickets in the two T20I games he played, had performed better than his contender and that’s where the selectors made the difference.
“But, to be fair to the selectors, when they picked the side and they had to include one wrist spinner, the choice was between Chahal and Rahul Chahar. It was immediately after the trip to Sri Lanka, and while Chahal was the pick of the spinners there, just the track record of their performances in T20 cricket, Rahul Chahar was head and shoulders above Chahal,” Manjrekar said.
Chahal picked five wickets in the last three games which takes his tally to nine wickets in the tournament, it shows an immense change in his bowling after going through a rough patch in the first leg.
