IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Chennai Super Kings Can Target

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be releasing a few players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. The site has a few of the oldest players going around. It will be interesting to see whether MS Dhoni returns as captain for another IPL season. There is a lot of anticipation and expectation as to who are the players CSK will be releasing. The side finished ninth in IPL 2022 winning four and losing 10 games.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 16. All the franchises by then will have a list of players they will be looking to get in the auction. Teams will get an additional five crores in addition to the remaining purse. As per a BCCI official, teams will enter into the auction with a minimum purse of 90-95 crores.
CSK has a purse remaining of 2.95 crores excluding the additional INR 5 Crore to be added ahead of the mini-auction. In this article, we take a look at three players CSK might target in IPL 2023.

1) Sam Curran
Sam Curran has played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 and 2021. In 23 games for the franchise in the last two years, Curran scored 242 runs and picked up two wickets. The England all-rounder missed IPL 2022 with an injury but has been a part of the national team regularly.
He is one of the nominees for the Player of The tournament award in the T20 World Cup 2022. He has picked up 10 wickets so far with a fifer against Afghanistan.

2) Bhuvneshwar Kumar
The side lacks an Indian pacer in the current squad. Deepak Chahar is the only bowler with international experience. With Chris Jordan likely to be released by the franchise, they can look for an experienced Indian pacer and Bhuvi can do that role for them.
Bhuvi has been one the highest wicket-takers in the IPL having taken over 150 wickets. With the franchise looking to revamp the squad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar can be an ideal buy for them to lead the pace attack.
3) Litton Das
The Bangladesh opener has an outside chance of being one of the surprise picks in the IPL. No other player barring Shakib Al Hasan has consistently played in the IPL. Das can be one of the players who can attract a lot of attention in the auction. The management can bring the best out of him under MS Dhoni’s tutelage.
He also keeps for his national side and thus can be a backup keeper for the side as well. His knock of 60 made the cricketing world took notice of him. His run-out turned out to be the turning point in the game. Had he been lucky he could have taken Bangladesh to a famous win over India in the T20 World cup.
