After the IPL 2023 retention window, the Titans have a remaining purse of 19.25 crores in which they need to buy seven players with three overseas slots available.
Gujarat Titans retained 18 players for which the franchise paid 75.75 in total. The franchise released six players two of whom were traded to KKR. Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Shubman Gill, and Rashid Khan have done very well to retain the core of players who did most of their job in their debut season. Matthew Wade
The Australian wicketkeeper-batter had a forgetful season with the Titans. In 10 matches, he scored just 157 runs at an average of 15.70. Gujarat picked him up after his exploits for Australia in the T20 World Cup in 2021. However, by the time he played for Gujarat, he lost his form. The franchise paid 2.4 crores to buy him but it did not turn out to be a good transaction. He is retained for another season for the franchise and will look to pay them back. Had he been released, He would have probably gone unsold.

Pradeep Sangwan was roped in by Gujarat Titans for 20 lakhs. However, the veteran Indian pacer played just three games for the franchise and picked just three wickets. Once considered among the top fresh faces in Indian cricket, the left-arm pacer has not yet made his debut for India. With new bowlers coming through the ranks, Sangwan would have probably gone unsold had he been released.
Vijay Shankar
Tamil Nadu cricketer Vijay Shankar was bought for 1.4 crores by Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. However, he did not make the most of the opportunities presented to him. He played four games for the Titans last year scoring just 19 runs in total and picking up just one wicket.
Shankar was considered India’s number four in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in place of the experienced Ambati Rayudu. He played his last game for India in that World Cup in 2019 and is nowhere close to the Indian cricket team at the moment.
