IPL 2023 Auction: 5 Maharashtra Players MI Can Target

Mumbai Indians (MI) head into the IPL 2023 auction with a remaining purse of 20.55 crores looking to fill up nine available slots. The five-time IPL champions finished tenth on the IPL 2022 points table having lost as many as 10 games last year and winning four. CSK finished ninth with as many wins and losses as MI.
Every franchise has a total salary cap of Rs. 95 crores in the auction. During the retentions, the 10 teams retained 163 players in their squad. Now, there are 87 slots available overall during IPL 2023 auction. SRH has the highest remaining purse with over 40 crores in their bank and KKR with 7.05 crores has the least purse remaining heading into the auction.
The IPL 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 23. A total of 991 players are set to go under the hammer in the upcoming auction. There are 714 Indian players and 277 overseas players in total. 21 players have registered themselves for a base price of 2 crores all of whom are overseas players.
Every team will have a salary cap of 95 crores with the BCCI giving the franchises an extra five crore this season. There are only 87 maximum slots left to be picked during the auction and in this article, we take a look at five Maharashtra players MI can pick in the auction.

Ankit Bawne
Bawne is fresh off a good Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign scoring 587 runs in nine matches averaging 83.86 and striking at over 100. He has been playing domestic cricket for over a decade now scoring runs for his state side across the domestic structure. He is a middle-order batter with a lot of potential and Mumbai can bag him at a decent enough price. He has played only one match in the IPL back in 2016 for Delhi Capitals.

Kedar Jadhav
Jadhav is almost a forgotten name in IPL and international cricket. He played his last IPL match in 2021 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played his best in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Jadhav has the necessary experience to fit into the Mumbai Indians squad and play according to the situation. He played his last international game for India back in 2020.
Vicky Ostwal
Ostwal is a former U-19 cricketer. He was picked up by Delhi Capitals but did not get to play a game. Eventually, he was released by the franchise. Ostwal was the highest wicket-taker for India in the T20 World Cup 2022 with 12 scalps. The Mumbai Indians management can work on the youngster and try and make him one of the future stars.
Azim Kazi
Kazi is a left-ram spinning all-rounder who has molded himself on Ravindra Jadeja. He has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket in the limited opportunities that he has been given. He has scored nearly 600 FC runs, 1000 List A runs, and 524 T20 runs. He has taken 51 wickets across formats.
Satyajeet Bachhav
Satyajeet Bachhav is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler who made his first-class debut in 2012. He is an all-rounder with nearly 1000 runs in domestic cricket across formats and 227 wickets. He has been more impactful for his state side than his bowling.
