SRH vs KKR: Don't Know What Has Happened To Him - Aakash Chopra Critical Of Rahul Tripathi Not Firing In IPL 2023

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra highlighted the issues Sunrisers Hyderabad might be facing ahead of their game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He was concerned about Rahul Tripathi’s form and said that he doesn’t know what has happened to him

Despite having a start-studded lineup, Sunrisers Hyderabad is not having the greatest time in the ongoing IPL 2023. The team are reeling 9th on the points table with just three win under their belt and their chances to qualify for the playoffs are very tough.

Rahul Tripathi has been a disappointment for them too. The batter hasn’t fired and is among the reasons why SRH is struggling to get runs in the middle over. He has scored just 170 runs in the 8 games at an average of 24.29 and a poor strike rate of 114.86.

Chopra pointed how the struggles of SRH in the league, by highlighting how they are chopping and changing too much. He also said that they should try playing Glenn Phillips instead of out-of-form Harry Brook.

Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said: “Mayank Agarwal’s form is going fifty-fifty and I don’t know what has happened to Rahul Tripathi. They got Harry Brook to open and they didn’t gain from that. Abhishek Sharma is playing well but when he scores runs, they demote him in the batting order. They can do anything.

“Aiden Markram scored runs in two matches but hasn’t scored runs after that. When Harry Brook scored a century against this team, Markram also scored a fifty. I think that was his last fifty in this league thus far.”

SRH vs KKR: “Kolkata should get Gurbaz and Jason Roy to open,” says Aakash Chopra

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been decent in the league so far for KKR whereas Jason Roy has taken the league by storm. Chopra believes that should open against SRH which will make their batting look strong.

He elaborated: “The opening has changed a lot but now I feel Kolkata should get Gurbaz and Jason Roy to open and then Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh and Andre Russell. Their batting is looking a lot better than their opponents.”

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently 8 on the points table. The two teams will play against each other on Thursday (4th May) and it’ll be an extremely crucial game for both the games.
