“What A Knock Under Pressure” – Twitter Hails Devon Conway As He Slams An Exceptional ODI Hundred vs India In Indore

The 31-year-old New Zealand National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman Devon Conway smashed an exceptional century in the third ODI against India National Cricket Team on Tuesday, January 24.
The third ODI between the teams is a dead rubber contest as India have already sealed the series after winning the first two matches in Hyderabad and Raipur respectively. The dead rubber match is currently underway at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

New Zealand won the toss and invited India to bat first. The decision wasn’t a good one for the side as India posted a monstrous total of 385/9 on the board in 50 overs.
The BlackCaps, however, were not extremely disappointed with the score posted by India because at one stage it looked like 400-plus was easily possible, but thanks to Kiwi bowlers, who picked wickets at regular intervals in the middle-overs to bundle out India under 400.

Chasing the target, New Zealand were off to the worst possible start as they lost Finn Allen in the first over itself for a duck. However, Devon Conway batted exceptionally well alongside Henry Nicholls and didn’t let his side sink further.
Devon Conway, who scored a combined 17 runs in the first two ODIs against India, batted brilliantly on the batting-friendly surface and looked comfortable against the Indian bowling attack. He reached the half-century milestone off 41 balls. Also, Devon Conway stitched together 106 runs in 87 balls with Henry Nicholls before the latter’s dismissal for 42 in the 15th over, which was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav.

In the 22nd over, Conway was seen struggling with cramps as he was limping to the non-striker’s end while trying to take a single on the 4th delivery of the over.
However, he fought the cramps and smashed successive sixes to Yuzvendra Chahal on the first two balls of the 24th over to bring up his century. Devon Conway completed his remarkable ton off just 71 balls, with 7 fours and 7 sixes.
Conway, who recently smashed an amazing ODI ton on the Pakistan tour, became the second-fastest Kiwi batter to score a century against India in ODIs. He went past Jesse Ryder, who scored a 72-ball ton against the Men In Blue. The left-handed batter is just behind Michael Bracewell’s 57-ball ton, which came in the first ODI of the series.
