India is set to lock horns with South Africa in an upcoming ODI series. During ongoing South Africa’s tour of India 2022, a three-match ODI series will take place. IND vs SA 1st ODI will take place on October 6 (Thursday) at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. India is led by Shikhar Dhawan in the IND vs SA ODI series. Temba Bavuma is the skipper of South Africa.

India recently crushed South Africa in the T20I series 2-1. India won the 1st T20I by 8 wickets, 2nd T20I by 16 runs but lost the 3rd T20I by 49 runs. Shikhar Dhawan is the skipper of India in the IND vs SA ODI series and will lead the team in the opening ODI game as well. The left-handed batsman will also open the innings for the team in the match. Dhawan showed an amazing for in the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe, smashing 154 runs in 3 games at an average of 77.0. He also slammed 1 fifty in the series which was a top unbeaten knock of 81 runs.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill might be another opener for the team in IND vs SA 1st ODI. The right-handed batter showed amazing form in the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe. He smashed 245 runs in 3 games at an average of 122+. He also hit 1 century and 1 half-century in the series.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer might be a one-down batter for the team in IND vs SA 1st ODI. The right-handed batter could not perform well in the recent T20I series. Iyer played in only the 3rd T20I against South Africa and got out for just 1 run. He will aim to come up with a better show in the opening ODI game.

Ishan Kishan might be a middle-order batter for the team in the opening T20I game. He might not keep the stumps but will be a crucial batsman for the team. The left-handed batter is not part of the T20 World Cup 2022. Kishan played in the previous ODI series against Zimbabwe in which he slammed 56 runs in 2 games, with a fifty in one match.

Sanju Samson (WK)

Sanju Samson might be another middle-order batsman for the team. He will also keep the stumps for the team in the match. The right-handed batsman has shown outstanding form in some previous series.  smacking 58 runs in 2 games at an average of 58. He scored unbeaten 43 runs in one match.

Shahbaz Ahmed might be an all-rounder for the team in IND vs SA 1st ODI. Hence, he will also make his international debut. Ahmed is the only all-rounder in the team. He gave a marvellous performance in IPL 2022 while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
