The Covid-19 virus has entered the Ashes series and players or support staff from both England and Australia have contracted the virus.

Australian middle-order batsman Travis Head tested positive last week and was ruled out of the fourth Ashes Test which will commence at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday. Also, Usman Khawaja is most likely to get a chance in the playing XI in Travis Head’s absence.

Meanwhile, Opening batsman Marcus Harris was found in close contact with Head, as a result, he was kept away from a charter flight moving the team to Sydney from Melbourne on Friday as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, Australia have added standby players Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis to the squad.

On the other hand, the England squad have also been hit hard by the virus, as there were seven positive cases in the camp including the cases of support staff and family members.

Head coach Chris Silverwood, fast bowling coach Jon Lewis, spin coach Jeetan Patel and strength and conditioning boss Darren Veness all were found Covid-19 positive and Graham Thorpe will be the stand-in head coach for the 4th Ashes Test.
